Sailing
The Kettles Sailing Program has developed a fantastic fleet of Prams, Lasers, Albacores and 420’s to provide and safe and enjoyable learning environment for participants to learn and practice their sailing and racing skills. The Kettles offers four different sailing programs for a variety of age and ability levels:
1) Junior Sailing (ages 7 –11)
The Junior Sailing program uses our fleet of Vanguard prams and 420’s and combines a fun on-water and on-land program in a safe, group oriented setting. Children will work toward the CYA Pram certification or Learn to Sail – White Sail. Class size will be limited. All students must have the equivalent of Red Cross Swim or RLSS Swimmer Level 4.
Junior sailing classes are Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 to 11:30
We recommend beginner sailors enrol for a minimum 2-week period.
2) Regular Sailing (ages 10 and up)
The Regular Sailing program is designed for all sailors aged 10-16 years old, and uses our fleet of Prams, 420’s, Lasers and Albacores. The program includes on-water sailing skills and on-land instruction on skills such as knots and terminology. Sailors may work toward CYA White Sail and Bronze Sail Certification Levels. The program also introduces racing in a fun, team-oriented environment.
Regular sailing classes are Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings 9:00 to 12:00
3) Advanced Sailing (ages 13 and up)
The Advanced Sailing program is designed for enthusiastic sailors who wish to further develop their basic sailing skills and racing techniques. It is offered to those registered in the Regular Sailing program who are 13 years and up. Sailors may work towards CYA Bronze Sail Level IV and V.
Advanced sailing classes are Tuesday and Thursday 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
4) Private Lessons

The Private Sailing lessons are designed to give more individualized instruction. These lessons are ideal for sailors of all ages who would like to learn to sail or improve their sailing skills. Lessons are flexible in terms of the time, location and duration. Private sailing lessons can be run from your cottage with your own boat or from the Kettles with one of our boats. Lessons are available Monday, Wednesday, Friday afternoons or alternate arrangements can easily be made by request. Please contact Brendan Horan for more information and to arrange a time and location 647-448-7919.

In all sailing programs it is mandatory to wear life jackets.
Whistles attached to jackets are an added safety feature

Used Lasers Wanted!!!!
Do you have a laser sailboat taking up space in your boat house or gathering dust under your cottage? Why not consider donating it to the Kettles sailing programs? Boats donated will undergo a makeover and then be available for the Junior Sailing program and for use by members in the Kettles Sailing Races. If you would be willing to donate your used laser to the Kettles, please contact Troy Comish (thecomishs@sympatico.ca) or Steve Jarrett (steve@sbcmedia.com).
